Job Description


The Solution Architect,  Direct to Consumer Platforms  will partner with our DTC leadership to understand our business strategy and imperatives, and develop innovative solutions. This role will be the primary product owner for our direct to consumer platforms supporting DTC. This role must understand the broader business imperatives related to all functional areas of DTC, be able to articulate them into technical enablement roadmap, and effectively manage competing priorities to maximize the overall business benefit.  The Solution Architect, DTC Platforms must have the business acumen to clearly articulate the ecosystem roadmap, and the technical and service provider management expertise to ensure successful realization and ongoing operations management.  The ability to work at high level solution design and detailed problem solving is a critical component of success for this role.  Working with business partners collect, understand, document and enrich intended requirements into thoughtful actionable work is paramount for this role.  This role requires a strong project delivery background and project management capability.

 

 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 
  • Partner with our direct to consumer stakeholders to understand and articulate business priorities and strategies, and translate them into enablement roadmaps, initiatives and design documents that can be effectively realized within the given time, technical and business constraints
  • Define, architect and deliver direct to consumer solutions that meet and exceed the needs of our business partners, including identification and deployment of system capabilities that enable innovation, revenue growth, and margin enhancement
  • Ensure new and enhanced application features, functions and capabilities are prioritized and applied to maximize business value (Product Ownership)
  • Provide direct to consumer expertise as needed to address business, process and technical opportunities and challenges
  • Define, develop, maintain, and communicate the direct to consumer platform strategy to all levels including the Cole Haan IT Leadership and Executive teams
  • Lead and manage all DTC platform development, including enhancements, major initiatives and remediation of chronic issues
  • Design and implement change management plans to ensure adoption of process improvement changes and technology solutions across the organization
  • Lead and manage multiple projects including business requirements gathering, establishing user acceptance baselines and test plans as well as documenting both functional and technical processes and design
  • Prioritize and balance enhancement and maintenance workload to deliver larger business gains and improve application reliability
  • Well organized documentation of both system and business processes in and surrounding the application
  • Keep skills updated and remain proactively aware of happenings and current events in the industry
  • Lead and participate in resolving cross-functional and cross-system issues across technical and business process teams
  • Determine appropriate requirements capture and management methods including but not limited to use cases, user stories, customer journeys and storyboards
  • Take ownership of open-ended opportunities and problems and drive them to completion
  • Mentor, educate, and train colleagues as needed

Requirements
  • Proven history and results from partnering with business stakeholders to clearly define, prioritize, manage and implement technology enablement solutions that create significant business value
  • Strong background in effectively leveraging external design & delivery service providers, including management and oversight of vendor contract and design processes that will ensure effective delivery
  • 7+ years’ professional experience with direct to consumer systems (order management and web) and processes in retail and direct to consumer industries, apparel, footwear and fashion industry experience is desirable
  • 3+ years experience with retail systems: APTOS (preferred) POS solutions to support inventory management, customer management, merchandise management, transaction & payment processing and reporting and analytics
  • Expertise in leading order management and eCommerce platforms such as Aptos EOM,   SalesForce Commerce Cloud
  • Expertise in email service provider platforms such as SparkPost
  • Expert user of work management software such as JIRA
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and / or Netsuite
  • Experience with PIMs and DAM’ s (Product Information Management and Digital Asset Management systems) is preferred
  • Proactively identify architectural weaknesses and recommend solutions that meet short term and long term need of the organization
  • Understanding of an ecosystem with both SAAS and On-Premise Applications
  • Certification in software development processes such as Scrum Master or Agile Certification preferred
  • Comprehensive domain expertise in the end-to-end processes and Application ecosystem supporting Direct to Consumer
  • Enthusiasm to start with big picture concepts and see them through to successful delivery with a willingness to support the detailed level of execution to ensure success
  • Innovative and able to quickly adopt new skills and solutions
  • Expertise leading workshops and requirement gathering sessions
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to deliver in both an Agile and Waterfall methodology
  • 5 + years experience leading Lean / Agile projects
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Project, Visio, and Power Point. Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite
  • Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Thrives in working at a fast pace, is self-directed, and able to manage multiple concurrent competing challenges, issues and priorities
