Senior Network Security Engineer

 

The Senior Network Security Engineer candidate will be a leader who is willing to take initiative and is responsible for the design, implementation and management of security infrastructure involving a global network. This position requires someone who has multifaceted skill sets and who will be leading/managing multiple projects. This person will need to be able to provide clear written/verbal communications to management and users. The senior Network security engineer will be a primary contributor in the architecture, design, implementation and support of the global corporate network security infrastructure to meet growth, service reliability requirements and problem management. Senior security engineer responsibilities:

 

How You Will Make a Difference:  

  1. Design, plan and implement aspects of the network security infrastructure

  2. Participate in multi-discipline design and architecture teams to provide solutions

  3. Perform on-going optimization of the network security devices to ensure adequate capacity, availability and scalability

  4. Daily Incident Management responsibilities will include troubleshooting security device issues, documenting troubleshooting steps and providing status updates to management 

  5. Create and present reporting information; updating process documents and other duties as required. 

  6. Participate in the Change Management process to include; creating new change request, reviewing submitted change forms, verify submitted change request information is complete, stage, and/or implement changes to security devices and update design documentation as required. 

  7. Ability to troubleshoot simple or complex issues and to utilize available reference material and resources to resolve issues as quickly as possible. 

  8. This position requires a broad range of familiarity with principles, theories, concepts, and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices. 

 

Skills for Success:  

Years of Related Professional Experience 6-10 years 

Educational/ Position Requirements:  

  • Engineering / telecommunications degree and/or 6-10 years of experience providing a diverse range of complex, security, and data issues.

  • Extensive network troubleshooting knowledge required

  • Expert knowledge of network architecture design principles, practices, implementation and LAN/WAN maintenance

  • Extensive hands on troubleshooting with firewalls, routers, and switches

  • Expert understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies (routing/switching, BGP, EIGRP, Spanning-Tree)

  • In-depth knowledge of Layer 4-7 app aware firewalls

  • Checkpoint (Firewall, IPS and URLF blades), Cisco ASAs (Firewall, RAS & S2S VPN solutions), Cisco Sourcefire IPS, ISE and ACS experience is essential

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment

  • Candidates should be familiar with industry trends in the information security space

  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects

  • Preferred Cisco Security Certifications and/or Checkpoint Certification

Requires on-call work

May require weekend or shift work
