Senior Network Engineer

 

The senior Network Engineer candidate will be a leader who is willing to take initiative and is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of infrastructure involving a global network, unified communications (VoIP), datacenters, remote offices, and security areas. This position requires someone who has multifaceted skill sets and who will be leading/managing multiple projects. This person will need to be able to provide clear written/verbal communications to management and users. The senior network engineer will be a primary contributor in the architecture, design, implementation and support of the global corporate network infrastructure to meet growth, service reliability requirements and problem management. Senior network engineer responsibilities: 

  • Design, plan and implement all aspects of the network infrastructure to support data, voice, video and security

  • Participate in multi-discipline design and architecture teams to provide solutions and capacity planning of equipment

  • Perform on-going optimization of the network to ensure adequate capacity, availability and scalability

  • Design solutions and alternatives that meet documented requirements and delivery dates

  • Provide daily level 2 and 3 support for resolving network/security related issues

  • Present solutions and makes recommendations to departmental leadership

  • Research and evaluate emerging technology for future applications

  • Provide mentoring and guidance to IT staff

  • Prepare and update network documentation including diagrams

  • Daily Incident Management responsibilities will include troubleshooting network device issues, documenting troubleshooting steps and providing status updates to management 

  • Participate in the Change Management process to include; creating new change request, reviewing submitted change forms, verify submitted change request information is complete, stage, and/or implement changes to network devices and update design documentation as required. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot simple or complex issues and utilize available reference material to resolve issues as quickly as possible. 

  • This position requires a broad range of familiarity with principles, theories, concepts, and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices. 

 

Requirements:   Senior Network Engineer Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor' s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline or equivalent experience required

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting midsize to large corporate networks

  • 6+ years of experience designing, planning and implementing all aspects of the network infrastructure

  • Experience providing 3rd Level support for all aspects of the network

  • Preferred Network certification(s) such as CCIE, CCNP

  • Experience with Cisco Routers/Switches/Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, Cisco/Symbol/Motorola WLAN/WWAN, Checkpoint, NAC, DMS, Nexus, OPNet Ace Live/Planner, Infoblox appliances

  • Experience required with heavy routing and switching

  • Expert understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies (routing/switching, BGP, EIGRP, Spanning-Tree) and QoS experience required

  • Load-Balancing, Multicast, BGP private/public

  • Requires working knowledge of WAN topology and routing protocols

  • Preferred working knowledge of VOIP infrastructure including Cisco Call Manager, Unity and IPCC

  • Familiarity with Cisco UCS switching

  • Organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects

Requires on-call work

May require weekend or shift work
