Job Description


The Senior Business Analyst provides strategic business analysis services to  clients. This position will be responsible for the documentation of business requirements and associated business processes/workflows in support of initiatives and projects. The position will also work extensively with internal and external development resources in knowledge transfer of requirements and ensuring understanding of how those requirements are reflected in applications/systems requirements. This position will interact and support both business users and technology while working in close partnership with project stakeholders.  

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Gather/analyze/document business requirements leading to the development of a business solution. These are documented in high level requirement documents which then lead to the BRD’ s/Scopes.

  • Perform requirement gathering and analysis to include: analytical techniques, interview techniques, data gathering techniques, current system documentation, business modeling methods, business process, rules and logic.

  • Effectively manage multiple priorities.

  • Effectively work with technical personnel through the delivery of software development projects.

  • Support the development of internal workflow design through systems, new and revised procedures and product designs, including the user interface aspect and the development of rules-based analysis for new or existing products.

  • Recognize and communicate the effects and impacts of requested changes to established projects, systems and applications, as needed.

  • Support status reporting to the Project Manager as needed.

  • Plan work and guide other BA’ s to meet project deadlines

  • Liaison between developer and stakeholders.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough working knowledge of project models/methodologies, IT systems and their direct implementation to projects.

  • Ability to apply common, object-oriented modeling techniques, including use case, activity and sequence diagrams.

  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.

  • Experience with applying and general knowledge of various analysis and gathering approaches, methodologies and models including use case, activity and sequence diagrams.

  • Demonstrated leadership and attention to detail skills through prior experience at the strategic and tactical/implementation levels.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
 
Minimum education and/or experience requirements

  • Bachelor’ s degree plus at least four years related experience; or at least eight years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is highly desired.

  • PMP Certification; Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)  would be a plus.
