SAP Development Lead

The SAP Development Lead (SAP S4 Fashion) is responsible for leading the SAP S4 Fashion Solution for the overall SAP S4 Solution within the Global implementation and then manage and execute the SAP Development needs for long term support initiatives of the supporting the functional teams. responsible for leading a team of Information Technology SAP Development professionals responsible for the full SAP system lifecycle. As part of this role, the individual is managing and providing direction for the following: application analysis, design, development, integration, enhancement, maintenance and support for the delivery of SAP projects and minor/major releases; working closely with SAP Functional Leads / Analysts to understand the functional requirements that drive the technical design of high quality technical solutions that are aligned with business and IT strategies, and are in compliance with the organization’ s architectural standards; and receiving guidance from more senior developers as needed. 

The primary focus will be first defining the SAP Development and Integration strategies, confirming the inventory of development requirements and then by partnering with functional teams, the systems Integrator and other IT teams to implement WRICEF objects within the budgetary guidelines mutually agreed upon with IS Management and the business areas supported and that the results are of a consistently high quality that meet the business needs. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Manage technical scope and overall work; track & report progress

  • Define and Manage the quality assurance process to ensure adherence to all development standards

  • Manage development to support the WRICEF object and legacy changes required for the implementation of SAP and the integration to external/legacy systems via a middleware architecture, and EDI. 

  • Work with the Business Process teams on unit and integration testing as well as fixing non performing development objects

  • Migrate EDI Processing to SAP with no disruption to trading partners

  • Manage development risks and issues as needed

  • Utilize deep expertise in SAP ABAP Development to support the SAP solution long-term including support of ABAP, ABAP Query, SAPScript, Process Orchestration (PO) middleware, I-Docs, BADI, BAPI, RFC Calls, Fiori Development, LSMW, ALV Reports.

  • Rapidly develop high quality solutions for technical requirements in order to meet the needs of the business in SAP FMS solution including SD, MM, FI, WM, PP.

  • Define and monitor SAP Development Standards to ensure adherence to quality requirements

  • Technical design, coding / development, and technical unit testing of object modifications and other development work needed to comply with the SAP environments

  • Work with the functional teams on unit and integration testing as well as fixing non performing development objects

  • Resolve development risks and issues as needed

  • Support legacy application integration requirements 

  • Manage own work and support other team members to achieve overall budget and schedule

  • For the ERP Program Implementation: 

    • Review Project workplans to implement ERP activities in line with legacy and 3rd Party changes

    • Develop overall development strategy including “ hub” solutions for plug-n-play business partners (3PL, WM, Customers, Suppliers)

    • Manage and maintain the WRICEF inventory and tracking tools

    • Scheduled reviews of program deliverables and status

    • Attend key process workshops & issue resolution sessions with focus on gaps and legacy integration

    • Present with SI Lead at PMO team meetings: Status, Issues, Key Activities needing attention

    • Co-lead weekly team meetings and prepare status

    • Create the Technical Deployment IT Cutover Plan to align all shutdown, load, verification and startup activities for each deployment

    • Supervise of on/offshore team in technical design, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, installing, & deploying of SAP solution.

    • Learn expertise in ABAP, SAP PI/PO, Fiori, HANA solutions

    • Go-Live Support & Defects

    • Coordinate activities with 3rd Parties for EDI, B2B, Legacy changes

  • As part of Long Term Support, manages development, implementation, and continuous improvement programs and processes to provide:

    • All of the above

    • Identify and estimate technical requirements for small projects and defect resolution that ensures applications meet all project requirements and stay within budget

    • Define objectives of development including technical scope, stretch goals, deliverables, milestones, required tasks, estimated hours, scheduling, identification of risks, and contingency plans

    • Quality assurance plans/testing and implementation of best practices

    • Managing security development necessary for access changes 

  • Manage developers to budget and schedule 

  • Develop and maintain team work plan.

  • Support issue and weekly progress reporting.

  • Identify and control areas of risk to drive resolution of issues.

  • Coach and develop Team members. Lead team by establishing and monitoring goals and processes; conduct timely performance appraisals of direct reports. Align team goals with brand initiatives.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’ s degree in a technical development discipline, computer science, or other relevant discipline required.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of SAP ABAP Development experience.

  • Minimum 5 – 8 years of SAP Development Leadership experience.

    • ABAP, ABAP Query, SAPScript, I-Docs, BADI, BAPI, RFC Calls, LSMW, ALV Reports

    • ABAP, SAP PI/PO, Netweaver, Fiori, HANA

  • Strong ABAP/4 development leadership experience in FI-GL, FI-AR, FI-AP, MM, SD or PP is a must.

  • Expert level experience on ABAP Objects required.

  • Multiple full cycle SAP implementation experience.

  • At least 3 years experience with ECC6.0 and beyond.

  • Well-organized and able to prioritize and coordinate simultaneous tasks and projects while addressing customer needs

  • Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills

  • Number of people managed 2-5 direct reports

  • Multiple SAP lifecycle implementations preferred – Planning, Blueprint, Implementation, Go-Live and Support

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Project, Visio, and Power Point. Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite.

 

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:  

  • Travel by air and overnight, as required 20% amount of time.
