Project Manager

Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible to maintain and oversee a high level portfolio of mid to large scale projects within the IT (Information Technology) Division.

  The PM will work closely with senior management to ensure the goals and objectives for each project align with overall company goals and business strategy. Requires collaboration on the planning, design, development and deployment of projects -- both for new systems and enhancements to existing applications.   Work closely with the IT Management Team, providing guidance, resources, and assistance to ensue projects have the documentation, sign offs, resources, and time lines to be completed successfully -- meaning on time and on budget.

 

Responsibilities:

A Project Manager must be able to independently review project requirements, schedules, resources, and other factors to ensure expectations of both IT and Business Units are aligned and projects are on schedule.  

The individual is required to effectively communicate thoughts and suggestions verbally and in writing. They will schedule meetings with both business teams and development staff to understand system functionality and to properly develop project charters, plans, milestones, etc.  

Primary Duties:

  • Plan project resources and scope

  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, breakdown high-level information into details

  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information needs and requirements

  • Develop methods for measuring results

  • Monitor and report on project progress against original time line and scope

  • Provide insight into resources available for a project

  • Attend and schedule project meetings as needed

  • Track and maintain master project schedule

  • Communicate areas of concern with senior IT management

  • Assist IT teams in project management disciplines

  • Work with IT and Business teams on project budget

  • Help to outline and highlight potential failure points and mitigate project risk

  • Ensure creation and sign off on all key PM documents (charter, business spec, technical spec, QA/Release plans)

  • Foster partnerships with stakeholders and sponsors

 

Experience:

  • Bachelor’ s Degree or equivalent

  • 6+ years’ experience in IT project management.

  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or IT Service Management (ITSM) certifications preferred

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills to interact with IT and Business staff

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills to prioritize projects and responsibilities

  • Well versed in project life cycle management and Agile development methodologies

  • Business and IT strategy experience

  • Customer-focused mindset

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong internal drive for improvement and producing best outcomes

Technical Skills:

  • 1+ years’ experience with one or more PM software tools, e.g. Microsoft Project Server / Project Online.

  • Excellent MS Office skills, especially with Excel and Word

  • Excellent MS Project and Visio skills
